{"id":388,"date":"2020-10-29T14:08:22","date_gmt":"2020-10-29T14:08:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.friendsforpets.co.uk\/dog-walking-blog\/?p=388"},"modified":"2020-10-29T14:08:22","modified_gmt":"2020-10-29T14:08:22","slug":"surviving-halloween-and-fireworks-night-with-pets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.friendsforpets.co.uk\/dog-walking-blog\/?p=388","title":{"rendered":"Surviving Halloween and fireworks night with Pets!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The dreaded firework season is fast approaching and if your\npets are not a fan of the loud noises and banging then we have some tips to\nhelp see you through Halloween and Bonfire night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Walk\nyour dog before dark where possible.&nbsp;\nComing into the shorter evenings this may not always be easy, especially\nif you happen to work long hours, so why not give us a call at Friends for\nPets, we can help.&nbsp; Check out our new\nAdventure Walks, we can take your dog awayduring the day, to an exciting\nlocation with a couple of doggy pals for 2 hours\nof exercise and fun so they return home more tired and ready to sleep and\nignore all the banging of fireworks outside!<\/li><li>Feed\nyour pets before the fireworks in your area normally start each evening, as\nonce they become distressed they are very unlikely to eat.&nbsp; You don\u2019t want to have to worry about them\ngoing hungry each night as well as being scared of the noises.<\/li><li>Do\nnot leave you dogs or pets alone in the garden or yard.&nbsp; So go for a wee with them, well&#8230;..maybe\njust accompany them while they wee, we don\u2019t want anyone arrested for unlawful\nbehaviour in their garden!!!<\/li><li>Give\nyour dog a safe \u201chiding\u201d place.&nbsp; If your\ndog is crate trained then try throwing some extra blankets over the top to make\nit darker and add a few more snuggly blankets or pillows inside to make it nice\nand cosy.&nbsp; If your dog isn\u2019t crate\ntrained not to worry &#8211; just try and make their bed as den like as possible,\nmake sure it is away from doors and windows (where the noise is likely to be\nworse), pull the curtains early so they don\u2019t have the chance to see flashes\netc and consider placing their bed under a table to help drown out any excess\nnoises and lights.<\/li><li>Turn\nup your T.V.s and radios!&nbsp; This will help\ndrown out any noises from outside, just don\u2019t go crazy as you don\u2019t want the\nneighbours reporting you to the police for noise pollution!! <\/li><li>If\nyour pet is nervous around this time of year, do not leave them alone.&nbsp; If you do have plans and need to go out then\ngive Friends for Pets a call, we can offer day care or overnight boarding or\neven house sitting so your pet can stay in their own familiar surroundings.<\/li><li>Never\nforce your pet to wear a costume, no matter how cute they may look.&nbsp; Forcing them to wear clothing when they are\nnot used to it or don\u2019t like it will only cause further trauma.<\/li><li>Take\nextra care around firework season when opening doors, frightened pets may try\nto run away from the noise and bolt out the door.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The dreaded firework season is fast approaching and if your pets are not a fan of the loud noises and banging then we have some tips to help see you through Halloween and Bonfire night.
