Peanut butter and honey dog biscuits

For the Dog Treats

  • whole wheat flour 300 grams
  • peanut butter 270 grams (see note regarding choosing the a peanut butter that is not poisonous to your dog)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 large egg
  • 230ml water

For the Frosting

  • 2 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1tbsp honey
  • cornstarch 35g
  • 4tbsp hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180c and line a baking tray with baking parchment.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour and the egg. Add the peanut butter, water, and honey, and stir until you have a stiff dough. The dough should now be a very firm and sticky consistency.
  3. lightly flour your surface, roll out the dough about ½-inch thick and use a cookie cutter to make whatever shape biscuit you would like to make.
  4. Bake for up to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Once baked, set them aside on a cooling rack to cool
  5. To make the frosting, combine the peanut butter and honey in a microwavable bowl, and heat in the microwave for 10 seconds each time, stirring in between, until melted.
    1. Add the cornstarch to a bowl and add the peanut butter mixture, mix until well combined.
    1. Add the water into the frosting mix, one tablespoon at a time. The more water you add the thinner the frosting consistency will be.
  6. If you are a dab hand with a piping bag, add your frosting mixture into the piping bag and decorate away.
  7. For an even easier option, if you do make the frosty quite thin you should be able to drizzle over the biscuits with a spoon.
