Top Tips for Dog Care in Cold & Muddy Weather
As winter approaches, here are a few quick tips to keep your doggies happy, healthy, and comfortable:
- Keep them dry: Always towel off muddy paws and wet coats after walks to prevent chills and sore skin.
- Watch for salt and grit: Clean paws after walking on gritted roads, it can irritate or even poison dogs if licked.
- Layer up if needed: Short-haired or small breeds can benefit from a cosy coat or jumper.
- Adjust walk times: Go for shorter, more frequent walks if it’s especially cold or icy.
- Stay visible: Dark mornings and evenings mean reflective leads, collars, and jackets are a must!

Huge congratulations to Catherine, Sam, and Vicki, who have been recognised as Three Best Rated Dog Walkers in Newport 2025! 🏆
We’re so proud of your hard work, dedication, and the love you show every pet you care for.
Thank you all for being part of the Friends for Pets community, we couldn’t do what we do without your continued support, trust, and wagging tails!

Becca & the Friends for Pets Team 🐾
