Dog walking around Cardiff

Cardiff is a great city for dogs and their owners.  It has the hustle and bustle of a capital city however underneath all of that it is a beautiful heaven for dog walkers.

Here are our top dog walks in Cardiff.

Bute Park – right in the city centre itself you can enjoy a dog walk around Bute Park.  Whether you want a short walk and a picnic or a longer walk along the river side it’s all there.

Sophia Gardens – this is another dog walk in the city centre.  Here you can take in views or Cardiff Castle and follow the Taff trail all the way to Cardiff Bay where you and your dog can stop for a well deserved drink.

Cardiff Bay Barrage – this is a stunning walk however more suitable for dogs that are happy to stay on the lead.  Here you can enjoy the up and coming development of Cardiff Bay whilst relaxing with water views from every direction.

Llanishen Reservoir – this is a peaceful place for you and your dog to walk and you will meet many like minded walkers on your way.  Walk around the reservoir or follow the Nant Fawr trail which connects Waterloo Gardens in the south with the Ridgeway walk in the north.

Cefn Onn Park – a fun and easy walk for dogs and nature lovers. It’s a short walk around the park with wooded areas for dogs to explore. There are also plenty of paths leading off onto other trails for the more adventures waker and his dog.

Caerphilly Mountain – a walk on Caerphilly Mountain can be as long or short as you and your dog fancy as there are plenty of parking spots on the way up so it’s up to you how high or low up the mountain you begin.  From the top you can experience panoramic views over Cardiff and the Welsh valleys.

Roath Park Lake – a gentle dog walk around the lake is always an enjoyable experience.  There is plenty of thriving wildlife around the lake, beautiful flowers and smells in the wild gardens and fun to be had on the recreation grounds.  Dogs do need to be kept on leads around the park however it is an extremely sociable day out for them.
