Dog First Aid Course
Friends for Pets Pet First Aid Training is great for dog owners and pet care professionals to learn the skills and knowledge to be able to deal with an emergency situation for their pet. We offer a range of courses for a range of levels from children to pet owners to pet professionals and CPD courses for Vet Nurses. We do offer some level 2 and level 3 courses that are endorsed by Training Qualifications UK (TQUK) which is an OFQUAL accredited body. We also offer a Security Dog First Aid course approved by NASDU. We are also able to offer a hosting service where one of our approved instructors will come and teach a tailored course at a venue of your choice for your company or charity for a flat rate fee leaving the profit for your company or chairty. Host your own course

Choose one of the courses below and one of our approved instructors will come and teach it at your venue for you. The benefits of hosting your own course include:-
  • We are able to come to you and hold courses at a venue convenient to you.
  • We charge a flat rate so you can sell the courses at a fee chosen by yourself and make money for your company or charity.

We offer a range of Pet First Aid courses, our most popular course being the Level 2 Canine First Aid Course (VTQ) endorsed by TQUK, an OFQUAL regulated awarding body. However we can provide other courses including level 3 courses in Advanced Pet First Aid or Pet First Aid for Pet Professionals as well.   • Our Owners Evening Short Courses

    - These are held in venues around the areas we provide our pet care services and cover the Basic Skills you would require if your pet was in an emergency situation.Please note these courses are not certified. Cost £10pp.
  • Pet First Aid Level 2 (VTQ)

    A 3 hour course, run in conjunction with The Pet Academy and ProTrainings. When people think of first aid, they often do not think about their pets. Pets have accidents the same as humans and knowing what to do should the worst happen is a simple thing to learn with basic training. Pet first aid is not aimed to replace veterinary care but it will help you to recognise an emergency, calm your pet and reduce the risks of delayed treatment. Learning pet first aid is fun and informative and will give you the skills to deal with a pet emergency should it arise. This course can be taken as a classroom course with an approved and monitored ProTrainings instructor. This course is ideal for pet owners or pet professionals. It covers the main first aid subjects for Dogs and Cats but this information is also suitable for most other animals. Understanding basic first aid for your pet will give you the skills to assist them and prevent them from getting worse before professional help is given by your vet. This qualification is also available with an Endorsed Certificate from TQUK, an OFQUAL regulated body for an extra charge if required. You will have access to the videos, receive free optional weekly refresher video emails to keep your skills fresh and to update you on the latest news. All students will receive a free login area to our website where you can download a free student manual, print off their certified CPD statement and access other material. The content of this and all our courses has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines and come with a Certified CPD Statement as well as a ProTrainings Certificate and for online courses an Evidence Based Learning statement.Cost £49.95pp
  • Canine First Aid Level 2 (VTQ)

    A 3 hour course, run in conjunction with The Pet Academy and ProTrainings, this course is similar to our Level 2 Pet First Aid course but for those who just want a course that only covers dogs. This course is aimed at anyone who requires a course in first aid for dogs. It is ideal for dog owners or dog professionals. Understanding basic first aid for your dog will give you the skills to assist them and prevent them from getting worse before your vet gives professional help. The certificate is valid for three years.This qualification is also available with an Endorsed Certificate from TQUK, an OFQUAL regulated body for an extra charge if required. With our online classroom courses, you will receive free weekly refresher video emails to keep your skills fresh and update you on the latest news. All students will receive a free login area to our website where you can download a free student manual and control other settings. The content of this and all our courses has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines and come with a Certified CPD Statement as well as a ProTrainings Certificate and for online courses an Evidence Based Learning statement.Cost £49.95pp
  • Security Dog First Aid Level 2 (VTQ)

    This course is approved by NASDU for the requirement of pet first aid in their standards. First aid is important to know for your security dog not only to comply with associations and local authorities but also for animal welfare and to help a dog in need. The nature of working with dogs will pose a risk that they may be harmed in the course of their work or transport. This course is designed to meet the NASDU learning outcomes and added a few extra modules to ensure full understanding. This qualification is also endorsed by TQUK, an OFQUAL regulated body. If you require an endorsed certificate there is an additional small charge. The content of this and all our courses has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines and come with a Certified CPD Statement as well as a ProTrainings Certificate and for online courses an Evidence Based Learning statement.   • Advanced Pet First Aid Level 3 (VTQ)

    Run in conjunction with the Pet Academy and ProTrainings, the Advanced pet first aid level 3 (VTQ) course covers much more details about the different injuries and illnesses that can affect dogs and cats.   • Pet First Aid for Pet Professionals Level 3 (VTQ)

    Pet First Aid for Pet Professionals Level 3 (VTQ) covers much more details about the different injuries and illnesses that can affect dogs and cats.     This course is aimed at people who work with outdoor working dogs It is ideal for dog owners or dog professionals. Understanding basic first aid for your dog will give you the skills to assist them and prevent them from getting worse before professional help is given by your vet. The certificate is valid for 3 years. Students will receive an official ProTrainings wall certificate and wallet card in the post after the course. The content of this and all our courses has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines and come with a Certified CPD Statement as well as a ProTrainings Certificate and for online courses an Evidence Based Learning statement. Website usage is collected using cookies. Information about our website users may be collected by google analytics to help us improve and optimise our site for our users.

SENSITIVE DATA

For people who go on to become pet carers, we ask for you to obtain and to show a copy of a CRB or DBS check certificate to the area manager. This is done at the final point of recruitment and the purpose is to promote the security of our client’s homes and pets that you have access to during your work with us. We do not store a copy of this, only that we have seen it and that it was positive. We ask team members to hold on to this copy themselves in case a client wishes to see it. If any discrepancies are highlighted in the CRB or DBS, pet carers will be given the opportunity to discuss and explain these. If the manager is unsure how to proceed they may discuss this in person, not via email, with Rebecca Wilson at head office but anonymising the pet carer in question.

HOW WILL WE USE THIS INFORMATION ABOUT YOU?

We use information you have given us to provide you with the information and services that you request from us. If you agree, we will contact you via e-mail only to send you a newsletter containing company news, changes or updates to our services, details of upcoming events and career opportunities on an infrequent basis. We use information collected from the website by cookies to personalise your repeat visit to our website. We do not share your information that we collect to third parties.

HOW DO WE STORE YOUR INFORMATION?

All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. If any information about you or your pet changes then please let us know so we are able to update our records. We will ask you to fill in a registration form on an annual basis as a matter of routine just to ensure we have everything up to date.

WHO HAS ACCESS TO YOUR DATA

Your personal information can be accessed by the local franchisee or manager and Friends for Pets head office. Friends for Pets uses sub-contractors ( "pet carers" ) to carry out services for us and they will be provided with your details in case of an emergency with your pet and also so they are able to find your home to carry out your booking with us. You will have the opportunity to meet your pet carer who is carrying out a booking for you to ensure you are happy with these arrangements beforehand. If you do not wish for a pet carer to be given access to any part of your information then please let us know. In the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, we will disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets but as late on in the process as possible. If Friends for Pets or any of it’s franchises are acquired by a third party, the personal data held by it about its customers will be one of the transferred assets.

MARKETING

We would like to send you electronic information about company news, changes or updates to our services, details of upcoming events and career opportunities on an infrequent basis which may be of interest to you. We only use email marketing from email addresses from our staff, clients and people who have opted in to our mailing list. If you have consented to marketing you may opt-out at any time at a later date. For existing customers before May 2018, the ‘soft opt-in’ option will apply to those that have not taken up the opportunity to opt out of our mailing lists. You are given the opportunity in every newsletter to opt out of the mailing list. If you no longer wish to be contacted for information updates you can let us know at any time of click the ‘unsubscribe’ button in every newsletter. If you are not opted-in to our mailing list we will only contact you regarding a specific booking. We send our invoices via email to help save costs and the environment. The invoice contains your name and address. If you would prefer to receive the invoice in an alternate method please let us know.
