About Our Pet First Aid Training

Founder of Friends for Pets with Dog in garden Tash Myers is our in house qualified dog first aid instructor. Tash has grown up around animals and had a love for them which fuelled her education; a BTEC in Applied Animal Management and then a BSc Applied Animal Management. Tash joined Friends for Pets completed her Canine First Aid Responder Instructor qualification with MJ First Aid Training to become our dog first aid instructor.
MJ First Aid Training have been working in the first aid industry for over 20 years. Their Canine first aid course was granted Emergency First Response approval as a distinctive EFR speciality Instructor rating in 2008. It is now the official course of HM Prison Service and several police forces throughout the UK as well as Home Office Service Providers. The Canine First Responder Course is the only course globally to be approved by First Aid and CPR Certification Agency, Emergency First Response, the biggest certification agency worldwide.

Pet First Aid courses Available

  • Primary Care Course ­ An in-depth course aimed at pet professionals or pet owners covering scene assessment, barrier use, muzzling the patient, CPR and rescue breaths, choking, spinal injury management, serious bleed management, and shock management. This course is similar to what is offered by other Pet First Aid Training Companies. Cost £40pp
  • Canine First Aid Responder ­ In addition to the full primary course, you will cover Secondary Care which includes injury assessment, illness assessment, splinting fractures and bandaging. Cost £60pp
  • Modular Canine First Responder course – Aimed at those who cannot commit to taking a full day to complete the Canine First Responder Course. We now offer our full course spread over 2 hour evening sessions for 3 weeks. Cost £70pp
  • Hosting your own Full Course ­ We can come and run a Primary and Secondary Course at a time, date and venue of your choice (subject to our availability). You are welcome to host the course for up to ten people (the recommended price you charge your attendees is £60). Cost £300
  • Our Owners Evening Short Courses ­ These are held in venues around the areas we provide our pet care services and cover the Basic Skills you would require if your pet was in an emergency situation.Please note these courses are not certified as per the Primary and Secondary Care courses. Cost £15pp.
  • Hosting your own Owners Evening Short Courses ­ If you would like us to come and provide a course for you and your local pet owning community at your choice of venue, date and time we are able to do this. The cost of this is £80 for venues within a 20 mile radius of Wells, Somerset. We can travel out of this area but there may be a travel cost in addition to the set fee, please enquire for a quote.
