Dog Walking and Pet Sitting in Penarth & Dinas Powys

The Penarth, Dinas Powys and Barry dog walking team was established in 2016 and is managed by Steph. The Penarth Dog Walkers offer a variety of dog walking and pet sitting services at competitive rates. These include, dog walking, pet visits, puppy visits, home from home dog boarding and dog day care. All staff has completed their Friends for Pets Pet sitter award, have previous experience with animals, are insured and hold a basic disclosure adding the extra benefit of home security whilst you are not there. All animals will be well loved and cared for in a safe and secure environment whilst in their care.

Steph Palfrey

Steph lives in Penarth with her husband, daughter, her Beagle Demi and cat, Nibbler. There has always been a menagerie of animals in her life and most of her childhood was spent on the back of a horse. After spending many years working in financial services, Steph realised that her childhood dreams of working with animals was always meant to be. Dogs are her passion and she has experience of handling different breeds of all shapes and sizes. Steph has also recently undertaken a comprehensive Canine First Aid course and is now Manager of the Vale of Glamorgan team, after working with us as a Pet Carer since February 2022. Usually seen out and about in all weathers at Cosmeston Lakes or Dinas Powys woods with her sidekick Demi. Steph and her team are able to provide all pet care services for all pets to include chickens, small animals, cats, dogs and horses.

  • Pick up dog mess in a bag and either take it home or to a dog mess bin.
  • Only let your dog off lead if it can be effectively controlled around people and other dogs.
  • Keep your dog on the lead and under control if livestock are close by.
  • Keep your dog on the lead if there is signage or you are instructed to do so by a park warden.

The Coastal Path from Penarth to Sully

With gorgeous views across the Bristol Channel, this beautiful walk can be as long or as short as you wish. Headland, Lavernock Point, can be reached although it can get very windy! Parking can be more difficult on more pleasant days.

Porthkerry Country Park

Beautiful footpaths and woodland to explore whilst dog walking in Barry. With a car park on site, this is great dog walk for the warmer summer months when you are trying to avoid hot tarmac and missing the beaches!

Watch Tower (or Watch House) Bay

A lovely beach walk in Barry. The beach is close to the town so parking is usually quite easy and there are also toilets on site. Dogs are allowed at all times.

Cosmeston Lakes and Country Park

Can be an extended dog walk to incorporate a countryside and coastal walk. The actual park has two lakes, good footpaths making it a good choice for wheelchairs and pushchairs as well as dog walking. Due to the amount of birdlife around the lakes please keep dogs under close control at all times.

Knap Gardens

A great place for a dog walk in Barry all year round. Beautiful gardens around a lake visited regularly by birdlife. A good walk for buggies and wheelchairs as well as being popular with dog walkers.

Jacksons Bay

This is a quiet secluded sandy beach and the locals best kept secret. It is popular with dog walkers due to allowing dogs on it all year round. You can also walk round the Coastal Path to Barry Island though that does have dog restrictions at certain times of the year.

Whitmore Bay (during Winter months only for dogs)

A sandy beach in Barry Island. A gorgeous stretch of coastline for your dogs to play and explore. Please note that this beach is part of the Vale of Glamorgan Dog Beach ban so dogs are not allowed on the beach in summer months.

Cwm George and Casehill woods

Close to Michaelston-Le-Pit, this walking spot is a mixture of wooded areas, meadows and bridleways there is lots of variety for your dogs to explore and sniff.
